CALA is planning a highly sustainable, low carbon development on 87 hectares of land that it owns to the north of the city of Winchester.
The Company’s proposals are for around 2,000 new homes and a range of associated community facilities to help meet Winchester’s housing needs.
The principle of future housing development at Barton Farm (see Planning Policies) is now widely recognised in current and emerging planning policies.
CALA is consulting on its plans. The consultation has included public exhibitions from 1pm to 8pm on Thursday, 23 April in St Barnabus Church Hall, Fromond Road, Weeke and from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, 25 April in the Guildhall, Winchester.
The consultation is about what sort of development it should be, rather than whether and when the site should be released for housing. Final decisions on the development of this site will be made at a later stage through the normal planning process.
